BREAST AUGMENTATION
Breast enlargement surgery applies the skills of plastic surgery to create a more youthful and graceful breasts that enhance a women’s beauty by giving her a voluptuous figure.
Cosmetic breast augmentation can have a significant and profound positive impact on a woman’s satisfaction with her breasts (and) her psychosocial and sexual wellbeing.
The ideal candidates for breast augmentation are women:
- Who are in good health
- Who want to improve their appearance and have reasonable expectations.
- Who are 18 or older
- Who are not pregnant or nursing
Women prefer to undergo breast augmentation for reasons that are varied, unique and personal. Many women simply feel that their breasts are too small and that a larger breast size would enhance the overall balance, proportions and contour of their body. Clothes may not fit as well as they would like or they may feel self- conscious in swimwear.
Ideals of perfection presented by the media sometimes contribute to dis-satisfaction with breast size. For these women, breast augmentation may result in a very positive benefit in the way they perceive their bodies.
How is the surgery done?
The surgery is done under general anaesthesia. The method of inserting and positioning your implant will depend on your chest size and shape. The incisions are made either under the breast, around the areola or within the armpit.
Augmentation of the breast consists of insertion of a silicone implant under the breast tissue or under the pectoralis major muscle. This prosthesis augments the breast area to give a fuller breast ( increased cup size), give a better contour, and give more cleavage.
Recovery Time
Once the breast augmentation surgery is done, the surgicalareas will be covered in dressing and a support bra will be given to the patient to wear. The purpose is to minimize swelling and support the breasts as they heal.
Initial breast augmentation recovery may include swelling and slight discomfort at the incision sites and in breast tissue overall. It is quite common to experience discomfort and this can be controlled with medication.
You will be able to return to work and resume normal activity after 5 to 10 days of surgery. It is advisable not to engage in any vigorous activity or exercise or heavy lifting within 4 to 6 weeks after the procedure.
