Procedure

Breast reduction surgery also called as REDUCTION MAMMOPLASTY generally takes two to four hours, and is performed under general anaesthesia.
Breast reduction surgery can be done by two methods

• Traditional incision breast reduction
• Liposuction

Traditional incision breast reduction surgery

There are many variations to this procedure. The most common procedure involves an incision that circles the areola and extends downwards following the curve of the breast and beneath in the crease of the breast. The surgeon will then remove the excess glandular and fatty tissue. Then the nipple and areola are transposed up into their new position in the Centre of the breast. The skin is then drawn together and down around the areola, providing a new, rounder more youthful shape to your breast.

Recovery Time

Following your surgery, it is recommended that you sleep on your back, for a couple of days. The stitches will be removed over the next few weeks. Bruising and swelling will disappear in couple of weeks. Sexual activity should be avoided for 1-2 weeks following surgery, and you should avoid strenuous activity for 4-6 weeks.

Breast reduction by Liposuction

Liposuction is done in the same way as we do it in other parts of the body. The cannula is inserted into the breast tissue and fat is sucked out. With breast reduction through liposuction, the scars are relatively minor and are usually hidden under the breast fold.
The best candidate for breast reduction through liposuction are women with breasts that are not too large and have good skin elasticity.

Recovery Time

Recovery is reasonably fast, and you’ll be able to go home the same day. There is a schedule of check-ups to monitor your recovery and ensure everything heals properly.
