How is it done?

Rhinoplasty can be performed under general or local anaesthesia. The entire procedure is done through incisions inside the nose and there is no external scarring.
The surgeon seperates the skin cover of the nose from the underlying structures and then reshapes the cartilage or the bone, causing nasal deformity. Sometimes, a small piece of patients own cartilage or bone is added to strengthen or augment the structures of the nose.

Ideal candidate for rhinoplasty

A good candidate for nose-reshaping cosmetic surgery may

• Have a broad nose
• Have a nose that is crooked
• Have a birth defect
• Have nostrils that are excessively flared
• Have problems breathing due to irregularities with nose structures
• Have been injured
• Have a bump on the bridge of the nose

Last but not the least, the candidate should have realistic expectation about what surgery can accomplish.

Recovery time- The average recovery period for a nose- job is about 8 to 10 weeks. The final swelling may persist for 6 months or longer. However, patients should take atleast a week off from work. Bruising and swelling under the eyes may persist for 8- 10 days.
